How to find the ICB

The Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering ICB is situated in the first finger dock of the new chemistry building HCI at Wolfgang-Pauli-Strasse 10 on the Campus Hönggerberg of the ETH Zurich (marked red in the map below).

Public transport from Zurich Main Station (Zürich Hauptbahnhof)

At the main station, take tram No. 11 (tram stops "Bahnhofstrasse" or "Bahnhofquai" in the direction of "Messe/Hallenstadion" to the stop called "Bucheggplatz" (takes about 10 min). Please change there to connecting Bus No. 69 to "ETH Hönggerberg" (which is the terminal bus stop).

Public transport from Zurich Airport

After reclaiming the baggage, follow the signs "Bahn/Railway" to ticket counters and machines. Press the left (red) key at the bottom where it says "Zurich City" (make sure that the display shows "2 Std"). The machine prompts for 5.40 CHF and accepts coins as well as 20.- CHF banknotes, and gives change. The ticket is valid during the next 2 hours for any train to Zurich as well as for the trams and buses within the city (streetcar, Strassenbahn). If you plan to stay the whole day, a day ticket (valid 24 hours) for 10.80 CHF is more suitable. Take any train in the direction of Zürich Hauptbahnhof that stops at Zürich Oerlikon (e.g., the trains called S 2 or S 16 or some IR- and RX-trains) to the station called "Zürich Oerlikon" (about 5 min) and change to the connecting Bus No. 80 at the bus stop "Oerlikon Nord" in the direction "Triemlispital". Leave the bus at the stop "ETH Hönggerberg" (after about 10 min).

How to reach us by car

Highway "Autobahn" from Bern or Basel:
Drive on "Zurich NORDRING" in the direction "St. Gallen/Schaffhausen" through the tunnel "Gubrist" and leave the highway at the exit "Affoltern-Regensdorf".

Highway "Autobahn" from St. Gallen or Schaffhausen:
Stay on the highway called "Zürich NORDRING" in the direction of "Bern/Basel" ignoring all exits called "Zürich City". Leave at the exit "Affoltern-Regensdorf".

From the exit "Affoltern-Regensdorf":
Follow the sign "Zürich Affoltern", then drive straight ahead (along the street called Wehntalerstrasse). At the 2nd traffic light (it is on a plaza called "Zehntenhausplatz"), turn right following the sign "ETH/Höngg" into the Schauenbergstrasse.

Follow the street up the hill, then turn again right in the direction of the traffic sign "ETH Hönggerberg". Always straight ahead until you reach the parking garage HPG. Please leave your car there (parking ticket at the machine) and follow the sign "Hauptausgang" (= Main Exit). You go upstairs and emerge in a garden. Please follow the path (on your left you see the Building HPR and the Physikrestaurant) to the top of a broad flight of stairs. Follow it downstairs and straight ahead to the orientation sign, where you turn left and walk about 20 meters along the building HCO to the entrance of the first finger dock, where the Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering ICB is located (rooms 100 to 199, floors C to J).
